The Judd School

Tonbridge

The School was established in 1888 out of the endowment of The Judd Foundation. It moved to its present site in 1896. It is a voluntary-aided Grammar School for boys, with a mixed VIth Form, and a total of 900+ students on roll. The School became a Specialist Music College in 2004.

Pupils are admitted by ability through the Kent Selection tests. Apart from the original school buildings there has been considerable development over the last ten years with the provision of a purpose-built Music Centre, a large teaching block and a new Library. A Sports Hall was completed two years ago.

The School is currently seeking to raise funds for a programme of refurbishment in order to improve the teaching facilities in the original 19th Century building. It is consistently one of the highest achieving state schools in the country.

Among a number of distinguished former students, are a test pilot (Neville Duke), a TV executive (Humphrey Burton), a former Bishop of Leicester, and an Admiral of the Fleet, the late Rt Hon The Lord Lewin, KG, GCB, LVO, DSC, a former Chief of the Defence Staff.
