The Hunt & Almshouse Charity provides one-off grant assistance to older or disabled people in need in particular designated areas.
The Charity can accept applications from adults who:
If you answered YES to all of the above, you may be eligible for help.
We make grants in three specific areas:
There is no standard grant, as each person’s circumstances are different, but they rarely exceed £500 for female applicants and £100 for male applicants. This is because the majority of the Charity’s funds were left in trust for women only.
It is often not possible to cover the whole cost of a particular item. Applicants are strongly encouraged to approach other charitable funds for which they are eligible.
All requests are considered by application form. These must be completed and supported by a professional third party who knows the applicant well. This might be a social worker, occupational therapist, CAB or local charity adviser.
For computer and mobility equipment, we need to see a professional assessment from an agency such as AbilityNet or the Mobility Bureau, to ensure that the right kind of equipment has been selected.
Applications from women can be considered on a regular basis. Applications from men are only considered once a year, usually in June.
